Antenatal education
About Me
Hello! My name is Grace and I am a registered midwife working in London as well as an accredited KGH hypnobirthing teacher and new mother.

My interest in hypnobirthing came from watching a woman using hypnobirthing techniques on the labour ward while I was a student midwife. Although her birth preferences had changed due to a complication and the labour ward hadn't been her ideal choice of place to birth, she continued to use these incredible techniques for calm and focus throughout labour. Many of the team didn't believe she were in labour due to the controlled nature of how she handled their journey! I was continuously impressed and in awe of the power this woman had over her body in a moment where many feel out of control. She was well informed and advocated her choices confidently. I thought it was amazing!
My teacher training has only improved this perception of hypnobirthing, nurturing my desire to help women and birthing people through their pregnancy experiences by giving evidence based information and techniques for an optimal birth for them. Whether that is a planned surgical birth or a physiological vaginal birth or anything in between, hypnobirthing can be valuable to everyone with the information and connection of the mind to the body that the courses provide.

I have recently become a mother to a baby boy and used hypnobirthing during my labour and birth. It allowed me to remain calm and relaxed throughout with the breathing exercises giving me a focus. I felt in control and empowered at all times, even when things changed and I ended up with an emergency caesarean I used the skills from hypnobirthing and had a really positive experience.

As well as my hypnobirthing business I am a midwifery lecturer for a university where my passion for education shines through. Having worked in a busy NHS maternity unit I realise there isn't always time in the current system to thoroughly talk to and educate the people during the routine antenatal care appointments. I want to find a way of giving people this information that ultimately means they have more choice when it comes to their birth through the hypnobirthing courses and education I provide.
